Dear Students, Parents, Caregivers, and Community Members,

I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself as Principal of Surgoinsville Elementary School. I come from a family of educators, and I fully believe I was meant to be an educator as well. I am a graduate of Hawkins County Schools and earned my Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from East Tennessee State University, Master's Degree in Education from Tusculum College, and Ed.S. with Administration Endorsement from Lincoln Memorial University. I previously taught 4th grade for twelve years and served as RTI Facilitator at Surgoinsville Elementary School before serving the last two years as Assistant Principal at Surgoinsville Middle School.

I am honored to serve as Principal and collaborate with the students, staff, parents, caregivers, and community of Surgoinsville to make SES the BEST! Our school is made up of a wonderful staff that is committed to our school's mission to educate with excellence, by meeting all state standards, in a positive, safe, and caring environment. In order for our school to continue to be successful, it is important that the students, staff, parents, caregivers, and community work together in a partnership to improve student learning and achieve academic excellence through high expectations. We all have a shared responsibility to the students of Surgoinsville Elementary. We appreciate your continued support of our school and students. We encourage you to be actively involved in your child's education.

To support the education of your child, please encourage them to read daily to increase fluency and comprehension. Attendance is also extremely important. Please ensure that your child is in attendance each day in order for them to be actively involved in the learning that occurs in the classroom. I encourage you to visit our website frequently for information about activities and events that will be occurring throughout the year. You will also find resources you can utilize at home to support your child's education.

As mentioned in our mission, we hope that when you enter the doors of SES, you feel the positive, safe, and caring environment of our school. Thank you for entrusting us with your child each day and giving your support as we also strive to do our very BEST to meet the needs of all our students.

I look forward to a wonderful 2017-2018 school year, and remember: at SES, we do our BEST!
