Bus drivers are often the first and last school representative a student sees each day. Their role is more than transportation—it’s about care, consistency, and connection. We’re proud to celebrate them in a powerful and meaningful way.  Big shout out and huge thanks to the HCS Bus Drivers – our dedicated warriors of the road!!

Attendance in early grades builds a foundation for students in later grades. Students gain positive habits, strong academic foundations, and confidence to succeed throughout school. Research shows a direct correlation to chronic absenteeism and reading levels in 3rd grade!

Kindergarten Full Days Begin – Important Drop-Off & Pick-Up Reminders As we begin our third week of school, we are excited to welcome all 60 of our Kindergarten students who will now be joining us for full days, every day! With this transition, we are adding at least 30 more cars to our drop-off and pick-up lines. We ask for your patience and cooperation, as student safety is our top priority. Morning Drop-Off Location: Front of the school Students should be ready to exit the vehicle as soon as it comes to a complete stop. This helps keep traffic flowing and prevents back-ups onto the road. Officer Alley and Mrs. Davis will be out front each morning to assist. Afternoon Pick-Up Location: Gym side doors (please drive around the back of the school to form a line) You must have a car rider tag displayed on your rearview mirror before you reach the gate. If you do not have a tag, please stop by the front office to complete the necessary form. Mr. Fields and Ms. Hunley will be supervising afternoon pick-up. Students should know how to identify your car and open the door to get in quickly. We appreciate your support and cooperation as we work together to ensure a safe and efficient process for all our students and families. Thank you for being a valued part of the SES community!

At SES, one of our key goals is to strengthen communication with our families. To help us do this, each Related Arts teacher has been assigned a specific grade level to contact during the 1st 9 weeks of school. These will be positive phone calls home to share something great about your child! Phone calls will begin this week. Please make sure your contact number in Skyward is current so we can reach you. If you have any questions or concerns during the call, feel free to share them with the teacher, and they will be passed along to Mrs. Davis, Ms. Cade, or your child's classroom teacher as needed. Grade-Level Assignments: Kindergarten – Ms. Minnie 1st Grade – Mrs. Murray 2nd Grade – Mrs. Laster 3rd Grade – Mrs. Hunley 4th Grade – Mr. Fields We’re excited to connect with you and celebrate the wonderful things happening at SES!

For 2025-26, Hawkins County Schools will focus on positive attendance and its impact on student success, now and in the future. We want to partner with you to ensure your child is in school, learning what they need to thrive as adults. Chronically Absent is 10% or more days per school year (excused or unexcused). At 5 or more unexcused absences a meeting with school staff will be scheduled. Students have 5 days to turn in parent and doctor notes. Each student may have 6 parent notes and 10 doctor notes per year. Students with 10 unexcused absences in a row or a total of 15 unexcused absences will lose their driving privileges.

We can’t wait to welcome students back to our cafeterias! And, great news – Breakfast and Lunch will be FREE again for students for the 2025-26 school year!

Parents/guardians may add money to accounts by cash or check at school or online at www.myschoolbucks.com for a nominal fee. My School Bucks is also a great tool to monitor purchases for free!

Please encourage your child to participate in the meal program! High participation helps keep our meals FREE for everyone!
