District News:
💙 Surgoinsville Elementary School appreciates Nurse Rebecca! 💙
Nurse Rebecca supports our families, teachers, and students each and every day. She goes above and beyond to take care of details, make connections, and ensure things run smoothly for everyone. Even in the most stressful situations, she remains calm and handles each situation with professionalism and care.
She is truly loved by our SES families, faculty, and students, and we are so thankful to have her as part of our school family.

The speed of digital media is changing fast! Artificial Intelligence can now create incredibly realistic videos and audio (known as "deepfakes"). This makes teaching our children to think critically about everything they see and hear online more important than ever.

The school system has been advised that Surgoinsville Police Department officers will issue tickets for illegal passing because of after school traffic. Passing cars have created safety concerns for oncoming traffic. You can assist by doing the following:
Please do not arrive at school prior to the end of school or until the campuses are open for cars to line up.
Please do not pass stopped traffic on the roadway in front of the schools.
Sincerely,
School Administration

HCS Delay Alert: Due to freezing temps and precipitation overnight, Hawkins County Schools will operate on a two hour delay, Tuesday, November 11, 2025. The weather will be evaluated early Tuesday to determine if further changes are required. Please watch for any additional updates.

Honoring the brave men and women who served with courage, sacrifice, and dedication.
YOU ARE INVITED TO ATTEND OUR VETERANS DAY PERFORMANCE ON TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 11 @ 9:00 A.M.
STUDENTS WEAR RED, WHITE, AND BLUE FOR PERFORMANCE.

A huge thank you to Surgoinsville Elementary Kindergarten teachers Nikki Miller, Alli Bridgeman, Jennifer Cassell, and Rhonda Hill for the incredible work they’re doing with our 59 kindergarten students!
This team has built such strong relationships with their students and families, creating a real connection between home and school. They have faced challenges but continue to stay positive, and give their all every single day.
Their dedication and teamwork are making a real difference and it shows in the growth and smiles of their students!
We are so proud of you and grateful for everything you do for our kids! 💕

Chronically absent counts all absences: excused, unexcused, and suspensions and has a high negative impact on school success. Students who miss more than 10% of the school year are considered chronically absent.
Truancy is unexcused absences only. Families who continue to be truant will be required to attend a meeting with school officials and possibly a court appearance.
